Dr. Michael Schina developed a keen interest in opioid dependence when he met his wife who is a licensed drug and alcohol therapist. Soon thereafter, he became committed to helping those addicted to opioids, which he has been doing for more than a decade. He is exceptionally knowledgeable about the science of addiction and pharmacology of Suboxone as well as being empathic and respectful. Dr. Schina is committed to providing a readily accessible service for those seeking treatment for opioid dependence and addiction throughout their recovery.
Dr. Schina was born and raised in South Philadelphia. He graduated cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania and received his medical degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. Dr. Schina was a trauma and peripheral vascular surgeon at Temple University Hospital. He was also on the faculty of Temple University before spending nearly a decade working in the research laboratories at Merck Pharmaceuticals. He was certified by the American Board of Surgery, has authored several publications, and given multiple presentations on a wide variety of medical subjects. He is licensed by the Pennsylvania State Board of Medicine.
Outside of work, he is an avid gardener, an audio/video savant, and has a big soft spot for his golden retrievers Ace and Maui.
